One Hot Machine

Great machine and good buying experience except for two things.

Well Engineered

Diver Installation a little flaky

Nice

Not a complaint but just a mention that my unit went heywire with random beeps in-between a windows xp fresh install and chipset/audio drivers. Not a single beep since.

Wow is all I can say. Simply put, i am picky/critical as sh__t, but i don't have a single complaint over this unit. Physical installation took about 8-10 minutes, another 10-15 minutes for a windows installation, and maybe 15 more minutes tweaking...

Absolutely none.

Works great

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000 Brisbane 2.6GHz

Connects to my 22" LCD monitor and 60" LCD TV with ease. Audio comes through the HDMI connection. Fairly easy to assemble, though I did have trouble with the supplied CPU fan. Maybe more my absence from building systems in a while. The front USB and...

Front flap is fragile, comes off very easily. If laying flat, one side of case has unpainted, exposed metal, reason I subtracted one egg.

Awesome design, a little cramped

Spend the extra 70 bucks and get a BD-ROM or a BD-R.

The things I cared about that you might too:

Inside the case you may run into some issues. For me, the hard drive's SATA connectors were RIGHT in the way of the motherboard's SATA controller ports. I had to drill some holes in the drive enclosure to move it about .75" forward. If you plan on...

Great for its intended use

I'd recommend it as a basic desktop machine as well, it runs reasonably well for basic PC usage. It's a quiet running machine, slightly louder than the PS3, way quieter than XBox360. While using it as an htpc, can't hear it 8 feet away when audio is...

Comes very easy to assemble, slap a processor and some RAM into it and throw your drives in, takes about 10 minutes total.

Might be a little underpowered if you try to use it for gaming. The PCIe x1 slots limit your expansion card choices. Only one hard drive bay, so get the size you want now, upgrading drive space isn't as simple as adding another drive.

Good chipset.. Crummy setup

Refunded me because they ran out of stock??!!! No big deal I had to buy the same thing from a competitor. Then I had to buy a pcix1 sata card for my bluray. The final conclusion.... The board on these have no support, Bios sucks, Sata would not pick up...

Ok just to start off the review, I have the same thing except the board is a 690g. Part #-p-2 m2a690g. I use this system for a downloading and sometimes media. And I have a 780g build for my personal PC..... Anyways the HD 3200 on 780g board is great!!...

Where to start... I wish new egg would still have the 690g version so I can write a nasty review on it.... I got this thing about 7 months ago from new egg. I ran a 2.8 x2 and 4 gig of ddr2 800 with a poineer bluray/ dvd combo. Installed vista 64....

Nice for a low-cost machine.

Make sure you have a 4-pin-to-SATA convertor (one is included but you'll need another) and an extra SATA cable on hand if you intend to have a SATA optical drive and hard drive. Also, be reasonable. DON'T try to put a Phenom on this thing! It's only...

It's easy to take apart and it's a very compact case, albeit a bit cramped. I'm not using it as an HTPC build but it would work great in that role. The included heatsink is pretty nice, it's like the AMD stock heatsink but with a copper slug in the...

Memory is sort of hard to install due to the cramped interior, but taking the fan bracket off makes this easier. The case exterior is pretty hard to re-attach, so you'll need to apply some force.

ASUS P2-M3A3200

This barebones system has many features to recommend it as already outlined in previous reviews.

The lack of a PCIe x16 expansion slot is a major problem that contradicts the description (including picture) on the ASUS product Web site. It would help all of us if anyone has gotten a clear explanation from ASUS of what is going on and why there is...

ASUS Incompetence

Other than this not being a sensible choice for a quad core I suppose it would be completely adequate for a much lower power consuming CPU "EX: 45W". I broke the sata cable when inserting the CD ROM and hard drive cage, the sata plug on the hard drive...

Vary compact, good overall size, everything worked out of the box. VARY feature rich motherboard.

Over all layout is incompetent and lacks common since. Power supply is completely inadequate, with no ability to replace due to non-standard form factor. DO NOT USE WITH QUAD CORE AMD!!!!! The CPU can draw up to as much as 125 watts, sticker on power...

Great Barebone

I wish it was quieter, but it still makes a great HTPC. Quad-core Phenom might be too hot for this case.

Overall, it's well designed and laid out. It takes full sized PCI-E cards, which is uncommon in a case this size. HDMI out (with audio) is perfect for a HTPC. CPU cooler is more than adequate for the Athlon 4850e I put in it. Q-fan control works well....

Minor complaints. The power and eject buttons feel cheap, and take some force to press. Heatsink fan (60mm) is a little loud. I replaced it with the fan from a AMD stock cooler. The bearing noise is much smoother. The power supply is also a little...
